Job summary

Actalent in Round Rock, TX is seeking an Operations Director – Mechanical Construction to lead the New Construction division’s most complex projects. You will direct multi-discipline teams, drive schedules, budgets, and client communications to achieve on-time, within-scope delivery.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical/electrical systems, construction finance, and strategic leadership. You will partner with field leadership and corporate groups to align goals and deliver

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 10–15 years of construction project management experience
  • 5+ years managing data center projects
  • Strong expertise in mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or SureTrak
  • Familiarity with construction financial systems and software
  • Solid understanding of building codes, equipment selection, and system layout best practices
  • Experience with preconstruction and basic estimating
  • Knowledge of low voltage systems (HVAC controls, fire alarm, security) preferred
  • RCDD or CPM certifications preferred
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint is a plus

  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope
  • Recruit, develop, and manage high-performing teams
  • Build strong relationships with field leadership and trade foremen
  • Partner with business leaders across a large portfolio
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and drive successful outcomes

We are hiring an Operations Director – Mechanical Construction to support the continued growth of our New Construction division in Texas. This role is responsible for leading teams delivering large, complex projects while setting and executing strategies, goals, and performance objectives. Key responsibilities include: Oversee all project activities, functions, and resource allocation Assign and manage project responsibilities across team members Serve as the primary client point of contact during project execution Hold full financial accountability, including accurate and timely reporting Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and compliance standards Provide stakeholders with clear, timely updates to support decision-making Collaborate across departments including project management, sales, estimating, accounting, and purchasing Manage billing processes, ensuring timely client payments and subcontractor payouts Oversee preconstruction budgets, estimates, and change orders Lead monthly project financial reviews (ETC) and maintain change logs Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope Recruit, develop, and manage high-performing teams Build strong relationships with field leadership and trade foremen Support project planning and coordination as designs evolve Manage a portion of annual sales in alignment with departmental goals Advise clients on financial, contractual, and technical project matters Partner with business leaders and clients across a large portfolio Take full ownership of assigned projects and drive successful outcomes Integrate and align multiple business units for cohesive project delivery Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience 10–15 years of construction project management experience 5+ years managing data center projects Strong expertise in mechanical and/or electrical systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) Experience with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or SureTrak Familiarity with construction financial systems and software Solid understanding of building codes, equipment selection, and system layout best practices Experience with preconstruction and basic estimating Knowledge of low voltage systems (HVAC controls, fire alarm, security) preferred RCDD or CPM certifications preferred Working knowledge of SharePoint is a plus This role requires a strategic leader with strong technical depth, financial acumen, and the ability to manage complex construction projects while developing high-performing teams and maintaining strong client relationships.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $230000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
