Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Austin Angels is seeking an exceptional Operations & Development Assistant to support the Chief Impact Officer while helping advance the organization's fundraising, partnership, and strategic initiatives.

This is not a traditional administrative role. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves bringing order to complexity, and finds deep satisfaction in ensuring every detail is executed with excellence.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, relentlessly proactive, naturally hospitable, and takes ownership without waiting to be asked. They anticipate needs, solve problems before they become problems, and understand that extraordinary donor experiences are created through thoughtful preparation and consistent follow-through.

This role serves as an operational assistant to the Chief Impact Officer, providing executive support while coordinating donor stewardship, partnership communications, executive scheduling, events, and cross-functional projects. The right person will help ensure our leadership team is prepared, our partners feel exceptionally cared for, and our biggest initiatives move forward with excellence.

We're less concerned with finding someone who has done every aspect of this role before than we are with finding someone who is humble, driven, curious, eager to learn, and committed to excellence. If you're someone who notices the details others miss, loves serving behind the scenes, and finds joy in helping others succeed, we'd love to meet you.

ABOUT AUSTIN ANGELS:

Austin Angels is an innovative and impactful nonprofit that seeks to change the way children, youth and families experience the foster care system. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential and foster parents should be radically supported on their journey. We exist because of that belief.

At the core, we believe the solution to foster care is engaging the whole community. The model is simple – develop and empower teams of volunteers to provide holistic support to families and mentorship to teens. Our programs are driven by the healing power of consistent, healthy relationships.

We believe that consistent relationships change everything – and our greatest ability to achieve this mission is by attracting, developing, and retaining team members who are committed to showing up with excellence.

Austin Angels core values are:
  • Hope – We lead with hope because we deeply believe in our ability to create a better future.
  • Community – We cultivate togetherness by treating everyone with dignity, respect, and compassion. We are better together.
  • Empowerment – We empower our community to take action rooted in the belief that we have responsibility to one another. Together, we remove barriers to create lasting change.
  • Curiosity – We maintain an attitude of humble curiosity, putting aside judgment to seek truth, knowledge, and understanding. We remain lifelong learners.
  • Transformation – We are social entrepreneurs who refuse to settle for the way things are.

Our fast-growing organization has a start-up mentality, paired with a high level of professionalism and drive. There is significant opportunity within our organization, and we are looking for a creative, innovative self-starter who demonstrates passion, professionalism, initiative, positivity, and adaptability.

HISTORY:

Established in 2010, Austin Angels walks alongside children, youth, and families in the foster care community by providing consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship. Our programs are designed to empower children and strengthen sustainable foster homes through a trauma-informed, wraparound approach. Today, Austin Angels has grown into the National Angels network, with 17 chapters across 13 states.
