Job Description
The Operations Coordinator, PB Coding aligns with NM's mission, vision, and values, adhering to our Code of Ethics and Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.

The role involves performing CPT and ICD-10 coding through medical record abstraction, focusing on complex encounters and/or with expertise in HCPCS procedural codes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deep understanding of disease processes, anatomy & physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Collaborating with providers and clinical teams to ensure accurate medical records.
  • Training physicians and staff on documentation, billing, and coding; resolving Optum coding edits.
  • Reviewing medical records to assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers with at least 95% accuracy.
  • Performing charge reconciliations and providing documentation feedback to physicians.
  • Maintaining coding references and updating staff on coding guidelines.
  • Participating in meetings and educational sessions.
  • Resolving billing edits, correcting services, and assisting with appeals.
  • Collaborating with revenue cycle teams to resolve claim issues and supporting documentation requests.
  • Meeting productivity and quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or CCS certification.
  • 0-2 years relevant experience.
  • 94% accuracy on coding test.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Health Information Management accredited by CAHIIM.
  • Experience with physician coding.
