About the Role

We're looking for an experienced O&M leader to take the reins on safe, reliable, and profitable day-to-day operations and maintenance at our North Lake Facility. If you're a strong, hands-on leader who's run energy facilities — ideally in an industrial setting — and you know how to bring people together across a diverse team, we'd love to talk. You'll report directly to the General Manager, with real room to shape our long-term maintenance strategy, drive facility efficiency, and build a team that takes pride in safety and performance. You'll also lend a hand to our Cokenergy and Portside facilities as needed.

  • Responsibilities • Get to know the regulatory landscape we operate in, and build the right controls and processes to keep us compliant with laws, regulations, and permits
  • Build and grow a team that takes real pride in performing safely, consistently, and at a high level — accountable, focused, and always looking to improve
  • Live out our company's vision, mission, and values in the way you lead every day
  • Keep an eye out for ways to make our facility's processes better, faster, and smarter
  • Help the Facility run at its best — driving efficiency, availability, and capacity factor
  • Strengthen our predictive and preventative maintenance and safety programs so small issues get caught before they become big ones
  • Champion Life Safety Skills as an everyday part of how we work at the Facility
  • Ensure and commit to strong Environmental Compliance
  • Thoughtfully plan, coordinate, communicate, and execute maintenance work
  • Stay connected with the Dispatch Center of AM and its representatives, responding quickly to their needs
  • Keep close contact with contractors, making sure they're meeting expectations — and speaking up when they're not
  • Find the right balance between profitability and taking care of the plant and its upgrade needs
  • Keep cost risks in check by putting smart, thoughtful controls in place — and revisiting them as things change
  • Keep our records accurate and make sure reports go out on time, every time
  • Shape the Facility's Long Term Maintenance Plan and help guide its future
  • Plan, organize, and lead outage activities from start to finish
  • Stay on top of federal, state, and local permit compliance and reporting
  • Bring your perspective to long-term strategic planning and budgeting conversations
  • Jump in on other projects and duties as they come up — we're a team that supports each other
  • Share honest feedback and ideas with management on what's working and what could be better
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
  • 10+ years in power station operations and maintenance
  • 5+ years working with water treatment systems
  • 3+ years leading and supervising others
  • A solid, practical understanding of plant processes and equipment
  • Experience putting preventive and predictive maintenance programs into action
  • A knack for getting to the root of a problem and following through with the right fix
  • Steam turbine expertise — comfortable diagnosing issues and planning overhauls
  • A working understanding of environmental and safety regulations and compliance programs
  • Confidence negotiating contracts for goods and services
  • Familiarity with accounting, contract administration, procurement, and general plant administration
  • Strong judgment when it comes to analyzing data and making cost-effective decisions
  • A proactive, energetic self-starter who works well with others
  • A valid driver's license (or the ability to obtain one) and US citizenship
  • Great communication skills, on the ground and in the office
  • The ability to handle the physical side of the role — lifting up to 80 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces or at heights, and comfortably working outdoors and in industrial conditions
