Job summary

Job description

Job Overview

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Operations Analysis Engineer in the Systems Engineering organization. This position will support advanced military systems modeling, simulation, and analysis to inform program development and operational effectiveness.

Location and Travel

Melbourne, FL or El Segundo, CA. Travel required for approximately 10% of the time. Relocation assistance may be available.

Security Clearance

Top Secret clearance required for starting the position. Must hold an active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance and be able to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis to support program development, execution, and related research and development projects.
  • Lead or assess new requirements and evaluate advanced air vehicle concepts and technologies.
  • Support mission engineering activities to ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements.
  • Develop mission‑relevant scenarios and assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems in the threat environment.
  • Communicate across engineering disciplines and technology areas to integrate capabilities.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of experience, or a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with advanced air and space assets and associated technologies, including low observables, electronic warfare, radar, RF/IR/EO/acoustic modeling, survivability analysis, countermeasures, operations sensor payloads, and ground stations.
  • Strong teamwork, independent work capability, and ability to present technical approaches to senior management.
  • Familiarity with Linux and/or Unix-based development.
  • Knowledge of domain‑specific radar principles and air vehicle sensors (RF, EO/IR, radar, ESM, SAR, etc.).
  • Experience with data processing/fusion, data links, navigation, or vehicle control.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C#, or C/C++ or other advanced programming languages.
  • Experience with USAF modeling and simulation tools such as AFSIM, Suppressor, ESAMS, STK, or other engagement or mission‑level models.
Salary

Primary Level: $79,300.00 – $137,600.00
Secondary Level: $98,400.00 – $171,000.00
