Job summary

National Fuel is seeking an Operational Technology Security Engineer at our Williamsville, NY headquarters to advance our OT security program. You will implement security standards for PLCs, DCS, and HMI, manage AD/patching, and support OT controls laptops across NY and PA with a company vehicle.

You will develop playbooks, metrics, and end-to-end cybersecurity capabilities for IoT/OT, coordinate with partners and industry groups, and help respond to OT security incidents with proactive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.
• Experience administering Windows Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPO), and WSUS.
• Experience supporting Windows-based environments, patching and endpoint management.
• Experience with OT network monitoring, data communications, networking, and VPNs.

Responsibilities

• Apply OT security methods to OT systems and networks to maintain security and risk mitigation.
• Provide security standards for PLC, DCS, and HMI, OT monitoring, and historian logging.
• Manage Windows AD for Support Laptop Domain.
• Support OT controls laptops and endpoint management.
• Maintain and patch Golden Images; use imaging software for restores.
• Install and support OT network monitoring devices across NY/PA.
• Maintain OT Central Management Console.
• Develop metrics to enable an effective OT security program.
• Implement end-to-end cybersecurity programs in IoT/OT space.
• Develop and oversee mitigation/remediation programs for OT risks.
• Track exceptions to OT security controls and ensure compensating controls.
• Participate in OT incident response and develop rapid playbooks.
• Build resiliency in OT security operations.
• Engage with government/industry groups; work with third-party partners to validate risk mitigation.
• Travel with company vehicle to Western NY and Northwest/Central PA facilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Apply current system Operational Technology (OT) security methods, practices, and technologies to existing OT systems and networks to maintain appropriate security and risk mitigation
• Provide and implement security standards for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Process Control systems (DCS), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), OT network monitoring, and Historian data logging/reporting
• Provide Windows Active Directory management for Support Laptop Domain
• Provide OT support and endpoint management for OT controls laptops used by engineers and technicians
• Maintain multiple Golden Images by patching, updating, and resolving software program conflicts
• Use computer imaging software to restore Golden Images on various hardware
• Install, maintain, and support OT network monitoring devices throughout NY and PA territory
• Maintain and support OT network monitoring Central Management Console (CMC)
• Proven experience in developing and leveraging metrics to enable an effective program
• Proven ability to implement and have responsibility for end-to-end cybersecurity programs, with a strong predisposition towards execution and delivery in the IoT/OT space
• Proven ability to develop and deploy mitigation, remediation and ongoing oversight programs to address OT-related information security risks
• Track, categorize, and catalog known exceptions to the OT information security control environment and ensure compensating practices are implemented
• Participate in the incident response program for timely identification, response and remediation of OT-related information security incidents
• Assist in the development of comprehensive playbooks to ensure processes, roles and responsibilities are clearly articulated to enable a rapid response to an information security incident in the OT environment
• Develop resiliency in OT security operations to enable ongoing processes in the event of a cyberattack
• Work with government, professional and industry groups and consortiums to ensure a diverse and well-understood approach to OT information security operations
• Engage with third-party partners to validate the OT information security program mitigates potential risk and can recover from an event at National Fuel
• Flexible hours and day travel to company facilities and project sites throughout Western NY and Northwest/Central PA with company provided vehicle

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field
• Experience administering Windows Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Object (GPO), and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
• Experience supporting Windows-based environments, including patching, updates, and endpoint management
• Experience with OT network monitoring, data communications, networking, and VPN technologies
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with Controls, Automation Engineering, and associated software programs
• Familiarity with PLC programming and Human Machine Interface (HMI) based control systems
• Experience/familiarity with Human Machine Interface (HMI) software applications and Historian data logging systems

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The base salary range for this position is $62,500 – $90,000

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of pay that National Fuel believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job. The specific base pay offered to a successful applicant will be based primarily on relevant professional experience. Other components that may be considered include: individual qualifications, licensures, industry specific experience, education and market demands for specialized skills. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. Exempt positions will also be eligible for an Annual Cash Bonus Plan.
