Job summary

Heartland Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Kansas is seeking an Operational Technician to efficiently run production equipment and safely produce high quality beverages.

You will operate high-speed packaging, perform line changeovers, monitor quality, document production data, and adhere to safety and regulatory guidelines. A minimum of a GED and at least one year of manufacturing experience is required. The position follows a 12-hour rotating schedule with early orientation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of work experience in a high-speed production/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude with willingness to learn.
  • Basic math, reading comprehension, and general computing skills.
  • Experience using a tablet or laptop and operating basic software.
  • Prior pallet jack experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate high-speed packaging equipment to fill branded cans or bottles.
  • Monitor blow-mold operations and apply labels; feed packaging materials for various sizes.
  • Perform routine checks, identify abnormalities, and minimize downtime.
  • Document production data, equipment maintenance, and process parameters.
  • Perform Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) on equipment.
  • Collaborate with team to meet production targets and efficiency goals.
  • Follow safety rules, regulatory requirements, and complete training.

Regular Hours: 5:00am - 5:30pm - 12 Hour Rotating Schedule

Orientation and first week schedule: Tuesday (Orientation) - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Job Summary

The Operational Technician is responsible for efficiently operating production equipment to safely produce the highest quality and best tasting beverage in the world.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operation of High-Speed Packaging equipment. Perform the process of filling branded containers, either cans or bottles, with liquid product. Monitor and maintain blow-mold technology for production of various PET sizes. Applies brand identification labels to product bottles. Supply lids, cardboard cartons, or cans into an automated machine to produce and form a variety of different package types. Perform routine checks and inspections to identify and resolve any equipment malfunctions/abnormalities, ensuring minimal downtime. Perform and/or assist in product and package change overs.
  • Understand and perform minor servicing and lockout tagout procedures when necessary.
  • Conducts visual quality inspections of product and enters quality information into the quality database system; communicates any out-of-specification findings and takes appropriate action.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of production data, equipment maintenance, and process parameters.
  • Perform required Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) maintenance on equipment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve production targets and maximize efficiency.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements, company safety guidelines, policies, and procedures. Complete assigned training.
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience is required.
  • Prior experience in machine operation in a high-speed production or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills - ability to assess and complete tasks in order of urgency.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, and reading comprehension strongly preferred.
  • Basic computer application and technology skills; knowledge of how to operate a tablet or laptop.
  • Prior experience using pallet jack preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Speaking: Often (communicate with other operators and leads)
  • Acute Vision: Constantly (observing both near and far, reading documents, monitors)
  • Mobility: Frequent travel around the equipment they operate.
  • Bending/Squatting: Occasional bending and squatting to clean and operate machinery.
  • Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to operate machinery.
  • Lifting: Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Climbing: Occasional use of ladders or stairs.

Pay:$21.50 an hour
