Job summary

Bank OZK is seeking an Operational Risk Manager to contribute to the Bank's ORM program by implementing standards, educating teams, and coordinating risk assessments. The role involves analyzing events, driving process improvements, and producing management reports to support governance and risk oversight.

The ideal candidate will have a background in financial services, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience required.
  • Minimum of one year in financial services with focus on operational risk management, internal audit, or enterprise risk management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports policies, standards, guidelines, tools, models, and procedures for ORM activities.
  • Implements and educates on ORM policies to support the program bank-wide.
  • Educates business units on risk identification, end-to-end processes, risk ratings and controls.
  • Performs root cause analysis on risk events and losses to drive improvements.
  • Maintains risk assessments and ORM data in the GRC system for reporting.
  • Designs and implements reports and tools to support risk activities.
  • Prepares program reports and presentations for management and governance committees.
  • Provides updates on key risk initiatives to executives.
  • Maintains punctuality, follows policy, and performs other risk-related duties as needed.

Job Purpose & Scope

Contributes to the overall quality of risk management across the Bank for the purpose of developing, implementing, maintaining, and training on the Operational Risk Management Program, Framework, Policy, and procedures.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Supports the policies, standards, guidelines, tools, models, and procedures; integration of risk, control, and operational loss data and processes within the GRC program and system; and coordination of ORM (Operational Risk Management) activities with various groups in the first and second lines.
  2. Implements and educates on the policies, standards, guidelines, tools, models, and procedures required to support the Bank’s operational risk management program.
  3. Educates and/or challenges business unit managers and business unit Operational Risk liaisons on the completeness of risk identification, end-to-end processes, inherent risk ratings, residual risk ratings, and control design ratings as part of the review of their risk and control assessments.
  4. Performs root cause analysis on risk events and operational losses to recommend process and control improvements to prevent these risk events and losses from occurring in the future.
  5. Challenges risk assessments, operational loss events, and maintains such within the Bank’s GRC system for management reporting and record management.
  6. Designs and implements reports and tools that support operational risk activities and projects.
  7. Creates and updates Program reports and presentations to management, Executive Risk Council, and the Board Risk Committee, including contributing to the quarterly enterprise risk profiles that aggregate company-wide risk appetite.
  8. Educates Risk Coordinators on Operational Risk Program requirements to foster consistent program execution, and provides executive management with regular updates on key risk initiatives, emerging issues, and program performance.
  9. Regularly exercises discretion and judgement in the performance of essential job functions.
  10. Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work.
  11. Follows Bank policy, procedures and guidelines.
  12. Performs other risk management related duties as needed.

  1. Knowledge of bank products, lending operations, and technology.

Basic Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience, required.
  2. Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a financial services company with specialization in operational risk management, enterprise risk management, or internal audit, preferred.
