Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking an Operational Readiness Intern to join the Business Practices Consulting group and support offices globally from our Pittsburgh location.

You'll assist with commissioning planning, testing, data collection, and development of commissioning procedures, while collaborating with engineering, construction, and procurement teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering
• Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Experience with engineering drawings or workflows is a plus

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning planning and setup activities
• Provide technical support for testing and data collection during pre-commissioning and commissioning
• Assist in technology development initiatives within the group
• Support initiatives to improve commissioning efficiency and project execution
• Assist in developing test plans and commissioning procedures
• Participate in field testing and troubleshoot/optimize non-performing equipment
• Process test results, data collection, progress measurement and documentation
• Support development of commissioning estimates, budgets, forecasts and schedules
• Coordinate with construction planning to align commissioning with work packages and procurement
• Review P&IDs, Flow Diagrams, SLDs and architecture drawings to prepare execution plans

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering
• Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Support commissioning planning and setup activities
• Provide technical support for testing and data collection during the pre-commissioning and commissioning phase of the project
• Assist in technology development initiatives in the group including investigating alternate and supporting commissioning software
• Support technology initiatives to improve the efficiency of the commissioning process and a different perspective on approaches to execution
• Assist in the development of test plans and commissioning procedures
• Participate in field testing and troubleshoot/optimize equipment that is not performing
• Process the test results, data collection, progress measurement and documentation of results
• Support development of commissioning estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, commissioning proposals and presentations
• Coordinate with construction planning team to align commissioning systems are coordinated with construction work packages, engineering and procurement
• Review P&IDs, Flow Diagrams, Single Line Diagram, Network Architecture Drawings and engineering registers to prepare an execution plan and estimate to execute pre-commissioning and commissioning services and identify opportunities for project acceleration
• Assist in establishing the commissioning requirements for pre-fabrication and modularization

You bring to the role:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Experience using Visio or similar tools to communicate commissioning sequence, organizational charts and workflow processes is an asset
• Effective report writing skills, planning and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel to various Hatch offices, project, and supplier sites subject to project requirements
• Previous co-op or internship experience in project execution, commissioning, or construction on industrial projects is considered an asset
