Job summary

Viant Medical in Indianapolis is seeking an Operational Excellence professional to drive improvements across manufacturing. You will lead Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and DMAIC initiatives to optimize quality, delivery, cost, and safety while mentoring teams and developing standard work.

The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, KPI tracking, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, and operations to sustain gains across the facility.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field; certifications preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or related environment.
• Manufacturing experience is encouraged; medical device experience not required.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead Continuous Improvement projects that improve quality, delivery, productivity, safety, and cost performance across manufacturing operations.
• Analyze workflows, operational data, and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and eliminate process inefficiencies.
• Facilitate Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping initiatives to drive measurable business results.
• Develop and maintain standard work, process documentation, work instructions, and operational best practices.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and operations teams to implement sustainable process improvements.
• Create and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics to support data-driven decision making.
• Investigate operational challenges and perform root cause analysis to identify corrective and preventive actions.
• Train and coach employees on Continuous Improvement methodologies, tools, and operational excellence principles.
• Manage multiple improvement projects simultaneously while tracking timelines, benefits, savings, and ROI.
• Support change management initiatives to ensure successful adoption of new processes and standards.

About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to drive Operational Excellence initiatives by identifying, analyzing, and implementing process improvements that enhance manufacturing performance and business results. You will help optimize processes, eliminate waste, and support a culture of Continuous Improvement that positively impacts Quality, Delivery, Cost, Safety, and Employee Engagement.

This role is ideal for candidates who possess experience and are passionate about Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, process improvement, and data-driven decision making. Whether your experience comes from Opex internships or manufacturing experience, or previous Operational Excellence roles, you will have the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience leading impactful improvement initiatives while developing your career within a global medical device organization.

Job Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Continuous Improvement certifications are preferred.
• Approximately 1-3 years of experience in Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related manufacturing environment. Internship, co‑op, or academic project experience may be considered for candidates with demonstrated Lean Manufacturing and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Manufacturing experience preferred; medical device experience is not required. Candidates from food, consumer products, industrial, electronics, packaging, and other manufacturing industries are encouraged to apply.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
• Experience with Value Stream Mapping (VSM), DMAIC, root cause analysis, Kaizen events, and process improvement initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret operational data, performance metrics, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Minitab, or similar platforms preferred.
• Effective communication, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple levels and functions of the organization.
• Continuous Improvement mindset with the ability to drive change and support sustainable operational results.
