Job summary

Ergon Refining, Inc. in Vicksburg, MS is seeking an Operational Excellence Engineer to drive continuous improvement across the OE framework.

The role provides technical and administrative support for all OE elements and supports incident investigations, process safety, occupational health and safety, learning and development, and environmental stewardship. The successful candidate will lead cross‑functional teams, develop KPI reporting, and advance Human and Organizational Performance concepts

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in engineering.
• Five years of engineering experience in refining or chemical processing preferred.
• Detail-oriented with leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of OSHA's PSM and EPA's RMP standards.
• Familiar with OSHA and safety regulations in refining/construction.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for OE projects and initiatives.
• Develop, review, and report OE KPI's with element owners.
• Provide engineering support to effectively execute EHS programs and practices.
• Lead major incident investigations and learning teams to identify causal factors.
• Coordinate support for minor investigations and ensure quality.
• Provide oversight of timely completion of action items from investigations.
• Educate employees on investigation methodologies and best practices.
• Identify, develop, and publish best practices and lessons learned across the site.
• Drive the site toward Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles as HOP Champion.
• Analyze potential fire, release, explosion and dispersion scenarios.
• Contribute to design, installation, and maintenance of fire detection/suppression systems.
• Provide support for MOC and perform PSSR as necessary.

Ergon Refining, Inc., in Vicksburg is currently looking for an Operational Excellence Engineer. The position will provide technical and administrative support for all elements of Operational Excellence at Ergon Refining, Inc. The individual will be instrumental in advancing the organization towards excellence by driving continuous improvement of our processes
supporting incident investigations, process safety, occupational health and safety, learning anddevelopment, and environmental stewardship.

Operational Excellence Engineer Qualifications:

• High levels of Trust, Humility, Character, Integrity, Resolve, and Respect.
• B.S. degree in engineering.
• Five years of engineering experience in refining or chemical processing facility preferred.
• Requires a self-motivated person that is detail-oriented with excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Knowledge and experience leading incident investigations using an applicable methodology such as Cause Mapping or Learning Teams.
• Knowledge of OSHA's PSM standard and EPA's RMP standard.
• Knowledge of OSHA and other safety related regulations and industry best practicesrelating to the refining and construction industry.
• Knowledge of EPA, DOT, and USCG regulations relating to the refining and construction industry.

Operational Excellence Engineer Duties:

• Provide engineering support for Operational Excellence (OE) projects and initiatives.
• Develop, review, and report Operational Excellence KPI's in conjunction with OE element owners.
• Provide engineering support to effectively execute best-in-class Environmental,Health, and Safety programs and practices.
• Lead major incident investigations and facilitate learning teams to identify causalfactors and opportunities for improvement.
• Coordinate support for other minor investigations and ensure quality is maintained for all investigations.
• Provide oversight and accountability of the timely completion of action items relatedto incident investigations.
• Educate employees on incident investigation methodologies and best practices.
• Identify, develop, and publish best practices and lessons learned throughout thesite, business unit, and organization.
• Drive the site towards integrating the principles of Human and OrganizationalPerformance (HOP) into its operating philosophy as the site's HOP Champion
• Analyze potential fire, release, explosion, and dispersion scenarios to prevent and mitigate these events.
• Contribute to the design, installation, and maintenance of fire detection andsuppression systems.
• Provide support for the Management of Change (MOC) program and perform PreStartup Safety Reviews (PSSR's) as necessary.
