Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a mid-career operational estimator to join our growing nuclear market team. You will support quantity takeoffs, estimating, schedule support, and change order preparation, collaborating with civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical disciplines.

This role is based in the United States and may involve travel. Based in a site-focused environment, you will work with estimators and engineers to provide constructability input and support

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of estimating and quantity takeoffs experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Must meet deadlines and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Willing to travel as required; U.S. citizenship and ability to pass background checks.
  • Candidates should work well independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and interpret RFPs, specs, and drawings.
  • Support quantity takeoff, estimating, pricing, and change order development.
  • Conduct site walks to support estimating and change proposals.
  • Assist preconstruction activities and value-engineering efforts.
  • Coordinate with estimators and engineers to provide constructability input.
  • Participate in planning sessions with estimators and engineers.

KNS has an opening for a mid-career operational estimator in our growing team. You will be part of our rapidly growing nuclear market, which includes civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical disciplines. This role will support quantity takeoffs, estimating, schedule support, and change order preparation.

This position is based in Aiken, SC. Daily site attendence is required.

Responsibilities
  • Review, analyze, and interpret RFPs, specifications, and drawings
  • Perform tasks related to quantity takeoff, estimating, pricing, and change proposal development
  • Perform project site walks as needed to support estimating and change proposal scopes
  • Support preconstruction efforts, to involvement in Class 3/4/5 estimates, and value-engineering efforts
  • Coordinate with estimators and engineers/designers to provide constructability input
  • Participate in the planning process brainstorms, and working sessions with estimators and engineers/designers
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in estimating and quantity takeoffs
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Possess strong mathematical and computer skills
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Must be willing to travel as the job requires
  • This role will require U.S. citizenship, and ability to pass a background investigation to receive an SRS campus access badge
  • L or Q clearance is not required for this position

This position may require working on an active construction site.
