Job summary

Wieland is hiring an Operational Buyer in Montpelier, OH, on-site. The role focuses on maximizing procurement leverage, consolidating demand, and developing site category strategies aligned with the company’s procurement plan. Local leadership in purchasing and occasional travel to other sites (about 10%) are required.

The candidate should have 1–3 years in procurement, a B.S. in a related field, and solid experience with SAP, ERP systems, and MS Office to support supplier negotiations and data

• Knowledge of procured products and supplier base; processes.
• Procurement tracking and negotiations across divisions and suppliers.
• Strong computer skills including SAP and related systems.

• Excellent verbal and written communication across the organization and suppliers.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Travel ~10% of the time.

Wieland is hiring an Operational Buyer. The Operational Buyer will be responsible for ensuring maximum procurement leverage using the appropriate amount of consolidation of an entity and region, demand. This position will assume a leadership role in the development of site category strategies that align with the Company and Business Unit's overall procurement strategy. This role is located in Montpelier, OH and will be fully on-site. While this role is local, occasional travel to other locations will be required (10% travel).

Responsibilities

Operational Buyer Responsibilities:

• Analyze the requirement requests from demand sources and clarify queries directly with responsible internal owners and preparation of suitable quoting or ordering documents.
• Identify new potential suppliers in consultation with the Strategic Buyer and lead local strategic supplier initiatives.
• Oversee quotation process by monitoring quotation returns and evaluate quotations commercially and, if necessary, technically.
• Independently analyze and negotiate prices and payment conditions or other general conditions for ordering with suppliers.
• Partner with the requirement owner to identify the most suitable supplier based on cost, quality, delivery, and service on the initiation of the order.
• Manage the entire ordering process, from the purchase requisition by the demand side to the resolution of invoice discrepancies.
• Preparation of data for negotiations by Leadership and Strategic Buyers on a National Level.
• Identifies and resolves moderate issues and problems on assigned contracts and purchase orders.
• On a case-by-case basis, assumption of special tasks, such as minor enhancements in the ERP system of the Procurement department or other assigned tasks.

Operational BuyerQualifications:

• B.S. Degree in Business or technical-related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• 1-3 years of professional experience in procurement, indirect materials, supplier relations, manufacturing environments, stakeholder engagement, and/or use of E-Catalogs.
• Knowledge of the products procured and the supplier base, as well as the processes.
• Procurement tracking and negotiations require advocacy with other divisions and suppliers for varying objects.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, SAP, and related systems.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written throughout the organization and suppliers.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Travel approximately 10% of the time.
