Job summary

American Electric Power Co. is seeking an experienced audit professional to identify, evaluate, and communicate opportunities to mitigate risk, strengthen controls, and enhance customer value across complex audits.

You will manage and conduct operational audit projects, demonstrate subject matter expertise, and deliver clear documentation and reports to senior management while partnering with teams to improve governance and operations.

Qualifications

  • Eight years of related experience.
  • Relevant professional certification is required.
  • Experience in auditing operational processes and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and conduct operational audit projects as assigned.
  • Effectively manage multiple audit projects and assist team members while maintaining overall responsibility for work quality, deadlines, and budgets.
  • Exhibit subject matter expertise in at least one relevant operational business function / risk area.
  • Prepare complete, clear, and concise documentation of audit work performed and conclusions reached.
  • Deliver reports that are clear, concise, objective, and constructive.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with team members and clients.
  • Conduct client engagement meetings (kick-off, closing, etc.) with senior management.
  • Provide objective assurance and consulting services to evaluate and improve the company's operational processes, governance, and control framework.
  • Perform audits of internal controls related to business units and financial operations.
  • Review management oversight and controls over operations, safeguarding of assets, reliability of financial and management reporting, and compliance with laws and regulations.

What We're Looking For:

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.


Advanced degree in a relevant field of study is preferred.


Experience:

Eight (8) years of related experience.


Certification:

Relevant professional certification is required.

$116,255.00 - $151,132.50


Physical Demands

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
