BNY Mellon seeks an Operational Sustainability Lead to join the Corporate Real Estate team at 240 Greenwich Street in New York. You will drive global sustainability strategy across operations and facilities, and oversee capital projects to reduce emissions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5–7 years of leadership in corporate sustainability, with a track record delivering sustainability-focused capital projects and robust regulatory reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Sustainability, Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in managing a corporate sustainability team, with a focus on strategy, governance and processes.
  • Experience in delivering sustainability focused capital projects (e.g., solar, fuel cells) to support corporate emissions reduction targets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead BNY’s global operational sustainability strategy across operations and facilities.
  • Identify initiatives to reduce corporate carbon emissions and improve environmental performance.
  • Prepare annual sustainability capital program and project specific business cases to obtain approval and funding for critical sustainability initiatives within the real estate portfolio.
  • Directly manage the implementation of all sustainability capital projects at the data centers and corporate office buildings.
  • Support the development and execution of BNY’s net‑zero and climate‑related commitments, including the purchase of RECs or vPPAs.
  • Evaluate and manage long‑term sustainability investments, including carbon projects and related strategies.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for all sustainability reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with BNY’s Corporate Sustainability Hub on developing long term strategies, board of director updates, and all corporate reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive energy management, green building, and environmentally responsible operating practices across BNY locations
  • Provide technical oversight and direction to facility managers and building engineers on ways to improve operational efficiency within data centers and corporate office buildings.
  • Represent BNY in sustainability‑related forums and contribute thought leadership on operational climate strategy.

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Operational Sustainability Lead to join the Corporate Real Estateteam. This role is located in the corporate headquarters, at 240 Greenwich Street, New York.


In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
