Job summary

Armed Services YMCA El Paso is seeking a part-time Operation Little Learner Facilitator / Substitute to support after-school and family programs at ASYMCA sites. You will interact with both adults and children, follow a curriculum, and provide feedback to supervisors.

  • Supervise children during activities and ensure 100% safety in programming areas.
  • Prepare for programs in advance and document participant participation.
  • Keep supplies organized and report shortages to the director.

Position Title: Operation Little Learner Facilitator / Substitute

Wage: $15.50-$16.50 per hour

Hours: Part‑Time

Requirements: Background, Drug & TB Check Required. Ongoing annual trainings.

Occasional Travel: between ASYMCAHR locations Required

Computer Skills: Basic Computer and Microsoft Office Knowledge Required

Preferred: Social Services And/or Early Childhood Education

Desired: Understanding of Military Family Lifestyle

Education: High school or equivalent (Required)

First Aid/CPR: Certified or be able to get certified within 30 days

Experience with Children: 2 years (Preferred)

Reports to: CYP Director

Summary: The Operation Little Learners Facilitator will offer quality customer service to participants by interacting with adults and children. The Substitute will fill in for a Facilitator to conduct the scheduled program and activities in a friendly and professional manner, in accordance with the Armed Services YMCA Policies and Procedures. Applicants must be proficient in following a curriculum and willing to provide feedback regarding this curriculum.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist in assessing the needs of military personnel and their families on a continuous basis.
  • Positively promote all ASYMCA Programs and Events to members, and the community, while motivating members to try new activities and programs.
  • Provide enriching activities, continuously facilitating new activities to engage learners.
  • Maintain 100% safety in all areas of programming. Supervise children at all times during specified classes.
  • Adhere to, and enforce, all rules and regulations set forth in the Participant Registration Packet, as well as the ASYMCA handbook.
  • Perform daily visual “health checks” on children and report suspected child abuse or neglect.
  • Report accidents and make sure all forms are properly completed.
  • Keep a First Aid kit intact, current, and easily accessible.
  • Properly prepare for all programs in advance, confirming all required supplies are available, as well as documenting member participation.
  • Assist in keeping all ASYMCA supplies/materials clean, organized and easily accessible. When supplies/materials are running low, notify the Early Learning Director as soon as possible.
  • Keep important paperwork/information organized and confidential. Turn in paperwork to Director neatly and efficiently.
  • Welcome new participants by explaining programs offered, as well as general Armed Services YMCA information. Make sure participants properly complete a New Participant Registration Packet and answer any questions they may have about the programs and/or the organization as a whole.
  • Attend all section meetings and training sessions. Stay up‑to‑date and informed regarding training information, CPR/First Aid certification renewals, and ASYMCA policies and procedures.
  • Submit time off requests and timesheets in a timely manner. In the event you are unable to work a scheduled program, you are expected to notify the Early Learning Director as soon as possible so that a substitute can be secured.
  • Resolve any and all issues or conflicts participants may be experiencing in a professional manner. Communicate all program concerns and problems to your CYP Director.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
Community Relations
  • Assist in maintaining a close working relationship with the Civilian Community, Military agencies, Program Donors/Sponsors/Volunteers, ASYMCA Staff, and Liberty Military Housing.
Financial Matters
  • Help coordinate monthly supply lists and turn these into the CYP Director on a monthly basis.
  • Be responsible while maintaining and using all supplies and materials.
