Job summary

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley seeks a Surgical Unit Support role to help maintain operating room readiness under the RN. You will handle non-nursing tasks and support staff to ensure efficient case turnover and patient safety.

Responsibilities include stocking linen, logging temperatures, delivering specimens, cleaning ORs between cases, and assisting with patient positioning while adhering to C-I-CARE standards. A High School diploma and 3+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Required
• 3+ years to 5 years of relevant experience required
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required
• CSCT Trainer Certification required

Responsibilities

• Assures linen is adequately stocked in warmers daily
• Maintains and records all temperature logs per department process and policy
• Prepares gurneys and beds as needed for operating rooms
• Organization of equipment room
• Delivers specimens to laboratory in a timely manner
• Assists with cleaning operating rooms at completion of each case in accordance with Infection Control guidelines
• Assists with inter-operative patient positioning
• Maintain adequate stock of all PPE at OR entrances and throughout unit
• Participates in gathering and putting away equipment and supplies as necessary
• Safely transports patients to and from the surgical suite as requested
• May assist with picking cases and assembling case carts for future cases
• Proactively assists with turnover including managing OR equipment and assisting with room turnover to ensure fluid running of department
• Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital.

A Brief Overview

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, performs the various duties in the surgical unit; performs non-nursing tasks in the surgical unit.

• Ability to maintain the physical demands of the job, push/pull heavy equipment - 50lbs
• Knowledge of safety, quality and joint commission standards as it relates to the department

Licenses and Certifications

• Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required .
• Trainer Certification for Surgical Technicians (CSCT) AHE required .

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $27.20 - $34.00 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
