Job summary

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a Surgical Technician to provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures in our operating rooms. You will ensure proper equipment and supplies are present and assist the surgeon as allowed by standards, with focus on sterile technique and patient safety.

Qualifications include completion of a surgical technician program, NBSTSA certification (or within one year), and CPR/BLS validation.

Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technician program.
• NBSTSA certification completed or within one year of employment.
• CPR, BLS validation up to date and required.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate surgeon needs.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
• Adherence to sterile field policies.
• Knowledge of asepsis and patient safety concepts.
• Awareness of OR emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Ensure presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room; assist the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards.
• Assist with cleaning operating room after the operation, ensuring proper routing of equipment and used materials.
• Reports to Manager.
