The primary purpose of the Operating Room Technician II position is to assist with surgical procedures and related activities under the supervision of a professional nurse. The OR Technician II performs duties reflecting the Association of Surgical Technologists’ Standards of Practice, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality care. They possess knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques, human anatomy, and surgical procedures, facilitating physicians' performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. The OR Technician II is a non-certified technician who demonstrates competency to scrub for various surgical procedures.

The role involves participation in quality assessment, continuing education, student teaching, and upholding hospital policies and standards. Performance is evaluated by the Nurse Manager or Educational Specialist according to hospital policies.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technician Program.
  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or equivalent.
  • AHA CPR certification.
  • One year of related experience preferred.
  • Professional appearance, patience, tact, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work in controlled temperature and humidity environments.
  • Willingness to wear hospital scrubs and work with contagious body fluids and hazardous materials.
