Overview

Operating Room Technician at Children’s of Alabama – Main Campus. Responsible for the management of the sterile field during surgical procedures and other accompanying duties. The OR at Children’s of Alabama is a Level 1 Trauma center offering surgical services across multiple specialties, including orthopedics, ENT, urology, neurosurgery, plastics, ophthalmology, general surgery, and transplant surgery.

Responsibilities

• Manage the sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining instruments and equipment.
• Provide support to the surgical team, including scrub and circulating nurses, to ensure a safe and efficient operation.

Qualifications

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an approved Operating Room Technician Program or one year of operating room experience.

Experience

• Operating Room Technician experience required.
• Minimum 1 year of staff level experience.

Licensures, Certifications, and Registries

• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.

Schedule

Full‑time, Day Shift (Monday–Friday) with call, 6:45 am–3:15 pm. 7‑On/7‑Off rotation schedule also in effect.
