Job summary

Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH) seeks a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team under RN supervision. You will assist with final OR preparation, hand instruments to surgeons, and participate in post-operative follow-up tasks across its hospitals in Santa Clara County.

The role requires a high school diploma or surgical technology certification, BLS/CPR certification, and ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school and one year of surgical technician experience, or graduation and certification from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certification from a recognized Certification Board is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon appointment.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs for operations; hands sterile instruments to the surgeon during surgery.
• Assists in setting up an operating room prior to surgery.
• Opens sterile packs and arranges instruments per procedures.
• Assists in cleaning and restocking operating/procedure rooms.
• Keeps records of operating room activities.
• May transfer sedated patients to gurney or bed.
• Disaster Service Worker if required.
• Performs other related work as required.
