Job summary

Boston Medical Center South is seeking a dedicated housekeeper to support the surgical team by cleaning rooms and maintaining a safe, sterile environment. The role includes turning over rooms quickly between cases, transporting patients, and assisting with positioning and care tasks as directed by clinical staff.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or its equivalent
• Experience: Previous housekeeping, transportation, CNA, or Operating Room experience
• Must be organized and have good follow through.
• Knowledge of Operating Room practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping duties including wiping down OR and/or anesthesia equipment, mopping floors, replacing trash and linen liners, etc., in preparation for next OR case within established timeframe.
• Have knowledge to be able to discern equipment and supplies throughout surgical specialties.
• Follow directions in the proper placement for room setup, including making OR bed/table and holding of extremities for patient surgical skin preparation.
• Follow proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures in all assigned areas.
• Transport patients between the OR, Holding, PACU, and patient units.
• Assist in lifting and/or transferring patients from stretcher/bed to OR table and vice versa.
• Assist clinical staff in positioning patients and other patient care as directed, including hold limbs for surgical preparation and monitor peripheral lines.
• Transport surgical specimens and blood products using proper handling procedures.
