Job summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital is seeking an experienced Operating Room Support role to provide medical and clinical support during procedures. You will help with room turnover, inventory, and transporting patients and equipment to ensure efficient, safe surgeries, including collaboration with the CPD team.

The position emphasizes safety, adherence to sterile technique, and effective communication in a fast-paced clinical environment, with on-call responsibilities and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate's degree.
• One year experience working in an operating room or surgical area in a hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assist Environmental Services with room turnover; wipe down and dock Neptune's, set up specialized equipment/OR tables for next case.
• Transport patients and equipment to and from the OR, and liaise with CPD to ensure delivery of kits and sterile items.
• Transport blood products and specimens to their respective locations.
• Assist in transferring patients from the OR table to their bed under the clinical care team's guidance.
• Position patients for procedures and ensure attachments are safely secured.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper labeling of fluids and linen in OR areas.
• Rotate through procedural units; assist leadership with process improvement focused on safety and efficiency.
• Respond to Vocera calls and clock in on shift; on-call within 45 minutes.
• Adhere to regulations (JCAHO, CMS, DPH, HIPAA) and foster teamwork.
