Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to help maintain sterile and orderly OR environments, clean biohazard waste according to policy, handle linen distribution, and assist with transporting and positioning patients as needed.

You will work under the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse, follow Universal Protocol, and support the surgical team with timely turnovers, terminal cleaning, and adherence to infection control standards; high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Healthcare setting experience preferred
• Ability to follow infection control standards and Universal Protocol

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the operating rooms
• Clean and dust vents and high surfaces
• Disinfect floors, walls, and surfaces per schedule
• Handle biohazard and regular trash properly
• Assist with patient positioning when directed
• Support turnovers and room setup for next case
• Transport supplies and specimens as needed
• Assist with safe patient transports and comfort
