Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Able to follow instructions, verbal and written, in English.
• On-call duties requiring arrival within 30 minutes after being contacted.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to assess data reflective of patient status across age groups.
• Ability to interpret information needed to identify patient requirements by age.

Responsibilities

• Identifies flow of daily schedules to anticipate needs of assigned OR suite; prioritizes tasks and manages time.
• Identifies proper selection of OR tables for proper position, surgery and weight of patient, and proper use of OR equipment.
• Demonstrates understanding of sterile techniques for surgical procedures; scrubs, gowns, gloves, and antisepsis.
• Demonstrates proper cleaning techniques for operating room; maintains sterility of instruments.
• Uses effective communication with all departments to ensure continuous patient care.
• Wears and maintains proper handling of vocera and pager.
• Demonstrates body mechanics for transporting and positioning patients.
• Assists anesthesia and nurse in proper positioning to prevent tissue injury.
• Ensures patient care and safety; adheres to safety goals and reports risks.
• Properly uses lasers with patient and staff safety in laser procedures.
• Promotes a clean, safe working environment; handles biohazardous items appropriately.
• Assists with OR room turnover: disassembles room, removes waste, cleans equipment, prepares for next case.
• Labels and reports malfunctioning equipment to charge nurse after removal from service.
• Performs OR stock management and notifies staff when items are low.
