Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist to manage OR/procedural area supplies, including stocking, ordering, inventory control, and distribution. The role involves barcoding, PAR location maintenance, and collaboration with OR staff to anticipate upcoming procedures and ensure stock availability.

The Specialist level may act as a lead, train new hires, and contribute to cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with replenishment, low unit of measure or point of use inventory process.
• General understanding of procurement, logistics, warehousing and distribution.
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, sterile supplies, and OR protocols.
• Proficiency in supply chain software (Workday, SAP, Oracle, JDA) and other office software.
• Experience with barcoding and related logistics processes.

Responsibilities

• Inventory Management - maintain and replenish OR supply locations based on PAR levels and usage trends.
• Stocking and Distribution - deliver supplies to operating rooms and restock par carts.
• Collaboration and Support - work with OR staff to anticipate needs and ensure stock availability.
• Troubleshooting - partner with Procurement and Inventory Control to prevent stockouts and identify sub products.
• Follow infection control and sterile handling protocols.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Serve as lead team member and mentor for new employees.
