Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist to manage OR/procedural area supplies, including stocking, ordering, inventory control, and distribution. The Specialist level may act as a lead, train new hires, and contribute to cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with replenishment, low unit of measure or point of use inventory process.
  • General understanding of procurement, logistics, warehousing and distribution.
  • Familiarity with surgical instruments, sterile supplies, and OR protocols.
  • Proficiency in supply chain software (Workday, SAP, Oracle, JDA) and other office software.
  • Experience with barcoding and related logistics processes.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management - maintain and replenish OR supply locations based on PAR levels and usage trends.
  • Stocking and Distribution - deliver supplies to operating rooms and restock par carts.
  • Collaboration and Support - work with OR staff to anticipate needs and ensure stock availability.
  • Troubleshooting - partner with Procurement and Inventory Control to prevent stockouts and identify sub products.
  • Follow infection control and sterile handling protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as lead team member and mentor for new employees.
