Job summary

Vighter is recruiting an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to provide exceptional patient care in the operating rooms at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. The RN delivers a full range of nursing services within scope of practice for diverse patient populations, ensuring adherence to JCO standards.

The role requires ASN/BSN, RN license, ACLS/BLS, and ability to work in a fast-paced OR setting.

Qualifications

• Must have exceptional customer service skills.
• Ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision.
• Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.
• Education: ASN/BSN is required and RN license is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide complex and comprehensive nursing care for surgical patients.
• Prepare the operating room and verify supplies, equipment, and instruments.
• Perform preoperative assessments and verify patient identity, procedure, consent, allergies, and surgical site.
• Provide and maintain a safe, sterile environment during surgery.
• Scrub nurse when assigned and handle surgical instruments.
• Assist with patient positioning and prevention of pressure injuries.
• Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and other supplies.
• Administer medications and treatments per orders and policies.
• Monitor patient condition and respond to changes or emergencies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers and staff.
• Document care delivered and follow-up in EMR per contract policy.
