Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse in the operating room to deliver patient-family centered care, supervise nurses and allied staff, and ensure high standards of safety and service. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice and coordination with physicians.

Candidate must hold a Florida RN license, have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, and possess at least 2 years of OR or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and document nursing care and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses and physician orders.
• Review tests and communicate results to the care team.
• Consult with physicians to plan and evaluate patient care.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, and assist with treatments.
• Respect patient age and culture; provide information about the treatment plan.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Safely administer medications and document records per policy.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist in discharge planning and plan assignments to optimize care.
• Operate medical equipment safely and mentor new staff as needed.
