GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed professional and is accountable for the quality of care provided. Care is primarily delivered in an outpatient surgery center.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide transformational leadership in a professional practice setting, contributing to the future of healthcare.
  2. Be a team player who supports colleagues through role modeling and mentoring.
  3. Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, including duties during charge roles.
  4. Maintain a safe environment, considering patient condition, intervention complexity, and expected outcomes.
  5. Provide verbal and written feedback to peers on clinical practice and performance.
  6. Share knowledge and skills, fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.
  7. Accept mistakes constructively, promoting a culture of safety, creativity, and adaptability.
  8. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate care and services.
  9. Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
  10. Participate in quality initiatives and ensure appropriate use of order sets.
  11. Supervise and evaluate delegated LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
  12. Use the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement individualized patient care plans.
  13. Derive culturally and age-appropriate outcomes involving patients, families, and providers.
  14. Analyze health data to determine care needs.
  15. Assess changes in patient condition, notify physicians or supervisors, intervene, and document accordingly.
  16. Accept assignments outside primary units within personal competencies.
  17. Engage in continuous learning and professional development.
  18. Participate in professional organizations and activities.
  19. Seek ongoing education using current research and evidence-based practices.
  20. Participate in peer reviews and seek feedback to identify strengths and areas for growth.
  21. Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  22. Prioritize patient-centered care, continuously evaluating satisfaction and advocating for patients.
  23. Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and promote compassionate communication.
  24. Address and resolve patient and family concerns.
  25. Manage time effectively to complete duties within shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Completed RN training program with PA RN licensure or pending practice permit.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance.

Preferred:

  • Certification in a specialty area.
