Job summary

TriCities Hospital in Virginia is seeking an experienced OR nurse to join the team. You will evaluate patients before surgery, educate patients and families about procedures, and manage preoperative preparation and verification of the surgical site.

The role requires a Virginia RN license (or compact multistate), ACLS/BCLS within specified timelines, PALS within 6 months, and about one year of Operating Room experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current RN Virginia license or has a compact multistate license.
• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• One year of Operating Room experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
