Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans, LA is seeking a surgical nurse to join the operating room team. You will work closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists to prepare patients, manage medications, monitor vital signs, and support recovery post-operation.

A strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, and patient care is essential. You will review patient history, assist with positioning and supplies, and complete clinical documentation while ensuring safety and quality of care in a fast-paced OR

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana nursing license.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Operating room experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery, review history, and provide care and support including supplies, medications, patient positioning, vital signs, and health assessments.
• Perform required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments.
• Monitor patients post-surgery for pain, complications and wound healing per infection-control standards.
• Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure smooth patient care and safety.
• Maintain a safe environment and ensure consistent communications and patient experiences.
• Initiate patient/family education on operation and post-operative care as required.
