Job Summary and Qualifications

The Surgical Services Coordinator oversees daily operations and maintenance of specific service lines, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure successful patient care in accordance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities include staff education, outcome management, physician outreach, customer service, revenue integrity, and budget management. Must be willing to take call as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

• Adhere to hospital and departmental policies on attendance, safety, infection control, etc.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Recognize and respond appropriately in emergencies.
• Attend mandatory education, meetings, and in-services.
• Communicate effectively via email and department channels.
• Coordinate activities impacting service line progress, working closely with the Director of Perioperative Services.
• Operate in administrative and clinical capacities, maintaining expert knowledge of procedures, equipment, and surgeon preferences.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with surgeons and staff.
• Facilitate patient care flow, advocate for patients, and ensure quality care delivery.
• Assist in staff orientation and ongoing education.
• Assess operational needs, communicate those needs, and assist in budget planning.
• Participate in quality improvement, reimbursement strategies, and system committees.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are available, and communicate with vendors.
• Meet performance metrics such as turnover times and volume growth.
• Implement process improvements based on feedback.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols.
• Work autonomously, set priorities, and make complex decisions.

Qualifications

• Current Colorado RN license or multistate license.
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
• At least 2 years of Operating Room experience preferred.
• Experience with specialty service line coordination is a plus.
