Job summary

Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services seeks an experienced Operating Room RN for a long-term Indian Health Service (IHS) assignment at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, NM. You will provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative nursing care as part of a dedicated surgical team.

The role is fully onsite, with a 7:00 AM–4:00 PM day schedule, on-call and callback duties, up to one year with extension options. Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license in the U.S.
• Minimum 2 years OR nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Prepare and maintain the operating room, equipment, instruments, and sterile field.
• Perform circulating nurse duties and/or scrub responsibilities based on experience.
• Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during surgical procedures.
• Monitor patients throughout the perioperative process and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Document patient care in the EHR.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical team to deliver patient care.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to callbacks as required.

Location: NNMC- Shiprock, New Mexico
Schedule: Full-time | Day Shift
Hours: Regular shifts are scheduled between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. On-call and callback shifts are required as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Contract Length: Up to one year with extension options.

What You’ll Do

• Provide professional nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures.

• Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during surgical procedures.
• Monitor patients throughout the perioperative process and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Maintain strict sterile technique and adhere to infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Accurately document patient care in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the surgical team to deliver outstanding patient care.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to callback assignments as required.

Additional Details

• Fully onsite position
• On-call and callback responsibilities are required
• On-call nurses must be able to respond within 15 minutes of notification
• Sleep accommodations are provided during scheduled on-call periods
• Credentialing may take up to 90 days
• Long-term assignment with the potential for contract extensions

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state or territory
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Operating Room (OR) nursing experience required
• PACU/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit experience preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Experience circulating in the operating room required; scrub experience preferred (if applicable)
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
• Previous Indian Health Service (IHS) experience is a plus
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
• Required immunizations must be current
