Cancer Nursing Today is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to lead and coordinate patient care in the operating room, ensuring safety and high-quality outcomes. The perioperative nurse designs, coordinates, and delivers care for patients undergoing operative or invasive procedures.

This role focuses on applying the nursing process, supervising surgical staff, and maintaining efficient, quality-focused operations within the surgical suite.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
• BSN preferred; ASN must complete BSN within five years.
• Current NJ RN License and BLS required; CNOR preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year Operating Room RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform and supervise general nursing activities in the operating room.
• Coordinate care using the nursing process for patients undergoing operative procedures.
• Establish, ensure, and supervise surgical team members and procedures to maintain quality and efficiency.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for general nursing activities in the operating room. In its entirety, the perioperative nurse is the registered nurse who, using the nursing process, designs, coordinates, and delivers care to meet the identified needs of patients whose protective reflexes or self-care abilities are potentially compromised because they are having operative or other invasive procedures. Establishes, ensures, and supervises surgical team members and procedures to maintain quality services and efficient operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
• Bachelors' Degree of Nursing preferred
• All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date

License & Certifications:

• Current NJ (New Jersey) Registered Nurse License required
• Basic Life Support required
• CNOR certification preferred

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year Operating Room RN experience
