Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for performing patient assessments, developing a plan of care, and implementing and evaluating care. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will work collaboratively with other members to ensure the safe and accurate delivery of care.

  • Complete age-appropriate assessment of patients upon arrival to the surgical suite.
  • Assist with patient care during anesthesia induction and/or prepare patients for local anesthesia.
  • Create and maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment.
  • Perform correct surgical preps.
  • Accurately document and report patient care.
  • Demonstrate competency across all surgical specialties and equipment.
  • Participate in staff and self-development.
  • Assist with the orientation of new employees.
  • Complete annual department competencies.
Qualifications Needed:
  • Minimum of 1 year RN experience in the Operating Room.
  • Hospital experience highly preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – preferred.
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license. If Compact, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – per SDH policy.
