Full Time Operating Room Registered Nurse - 40 Hour Day/Rot

New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) is the premier regional provider for orthopedic surgery and the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and disorders. Job Description:
Position Summary: The OR RN is knowledgeable in perioperative nursing principles, responsible for directing patient care within the OR suite, and supervising non-professional caregivers. Ensures safe, efficient, effective, timely care that respects patients' cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs, aligned with NEBH's mission and values. Works collaboratively with the care team, delegates tasks appropriately.

Principal Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Assess patient needs and plan care accordingly.
  • Review preoperative checklist with Pre-op RN to ensure readiness.
  • Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other staff.
  • Perform circulating nurse duties: advocate for patients, supervise staff, assist surgeons and anesthesiologists, document accurately, maintain a sterile environment, ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain up-to-date education, licenses, and certifications.
  • Participate in staff meetings and in-services.
  • Behave positively and cooperatively, utilize resources, participate in policy development, assist in orientation, provide leadership, seek process improvements, ensure proper patient identification, document accurately, comply with standards and regulations, adhere to infection control, and maintain equipment.
  • Engage in quality and safety initiatives, foster a collaborative work environment, and share knowledge willingly.

Education: BSN required. MA RN license required. CNOR preferred. American Heart Association Heart Saver Certification required.

Work Experience: Minimum one year OR nursing experience, including scrub and circulating roles. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment required.
