Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking an Operating Room Attendant to support surgical teams. The role involves transporting patients, maintaining sterile fields, stocking anesthesia supplies, and assisting in OR setup and clean-up as procedures occur.

The position requires an HSD/GED, BLS, and AED/CPR credentials with on-time completion. Rotation may include 6-2:30, 8-4:30, and 9:30-6 shifts; call may be required.

Qualifications

• HSD/GED degree required.
• American Heart Saver AED/CPR certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients from inpatient/ER/ICU to pre-op holding area.
• Clean operating room suites between procedures.
• Stock anesthesia supplies in medication carts and clean anesthesia machines.
• Transport specimens and blood products to lab.
• Assist in patient positioning under supervision of OR staff.
• Open sterile supplies and prepare the operating room with required equipment.

City/StateNorfolk, VAWork ShiftRotatingOverview:Sentara is hiring a Operating Room Attendant at Norfolk General's Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.Shift:8-4:30- but it will be rotating, and may include 6-2:30, 9:30-6, 11-7.Call required.OverviewThe Operating Room (OR) Attendant supports professional staff in caring for the surgical patient. This support is met through the transportation of patients from inpatient/emergency room/ICU departments to the pre-op holding area. In addition to the transportation of patients, the OR attendant is responsible for the cleaning of the operating room suites between surgical procedures. OR Attendants will support anesthesia staff both in the operating room setting as well as ancillary departments by ensuring adequate stocking of anesthesia supplies in medication carts, the cleaning of anesthesia machines, and the transportation of anesthesia machines and carts. OR attendants will be asked to transport specimens and blood products to and from the lab as well as ensure proper stocking of various formalin containers used for specimen handling and transport. The OR attendant will assist in the positioning of surgical patients with the guidance of professional OR staff.
