Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy.
• Participate in surgical site verification according to protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
