Job summary

Premier, a hospital system, seeks an Operating Room Materials Technician to manage OR supplies and annual budget planning. Responsibilities include par level maintenance, coordinating deliveries, and keeping asset records up-to-date in the procurement and asset management systems.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of experience in materials management, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with hospital departments.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage par levels within the operating room.
  • Maintain supply chain metrics and communicate supply information.
  • Coordinate deliveries and vendor managed pars (e.g., linen).
  • Manage requisition approvals, backorders, and receipts in the procurement system.
  • Manage returns to vendor (RTVs).
  • Enter asset information into asset management system when needed.
  • Stock and rotate products using a first in, first out model.

What you will be doing:

The Operating Room Materials Technician is responsible for the daily management and annual planning of materials used within the operating room. They will be managing the non-salary expense budget which includes the coordination and provision of supplies that enable patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Materials Management- 70%

Create and manage pars within the operating room. Competency is evidenced by maintaining established supply chain metrics and by communicating key supply chain information such as supply availability. May include the utilization of handheld device to perform par count. Perform physical receipt of goods and validate shipping against packing slip. Coordinate deliveries and vendor managed pars (e.g., linen) with contracted suppliers. Manage outstanding requisition approvals, backorders, and outstanding receipts by executing respective queries in the procurement system on a daily or weekly basis. Manage RTVs (returns to vendor). Enter asset information into asset management system upon receipt of capital equipment, when needed. Rotate and stock product as needed based on a first in, first out model.

Budget- 20%

Support the budget planning process by conducting product research and providing information. Manage inventory levels per budget dollars allocated. Meet regularly with operations to go over any budget overages or shortfalls.

Communication- 10%

Communication - Review product recall alerts and take required action as described within specified timeframe. Communicate product recalls to affected departments, if any. Partner with operations to identify alternate/substitute products. Communicate product backorders as directed.

Working Conditions: Hospital Environment

Travel Requirements: No travel required

Physical Demands: Heavy: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $42,000 - $63,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
