Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA is seeking a Patient Transporter to safely move patients, stock supplies, and assist with room turnover in the operating areas. You will help transport specimens, blood, and equipment as part of a collaborative surgical team.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED (preferred), 1 year of experience (preferred), and CPR/BLS certification (preferred). Weekend shifts are required, and the pay range is $15.00–$19.50 hourly, with pay determined by

Responsabilidades

• Ensures proper supplies are stocked in all coves and operating rooms, assists with room turnover, trash removal, patient transport, disposal of regulated waste, cleaning surfaces, mopping, dusting, and linen replacement.
• Assists with obtaining supplies, specimens, and blood products and transports them per proper procedures.
• Collaborates with the charge nurse and surgical/operating room team to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintains onboarding support for new staff to reduce turnover and vacancy-related gaps.
• Follows National Patient Safety Goals, uses patient identifiers, and adheres to HIPAA protocols.
• Safely transports patients, applying infection control and proper body mechanics and using patient identifiers.
• Supports department productivity by proposing changes to shifts to meet needs.

Hiring Range

Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Overview

Safely and efficiently transports patients, stocks supplies, assists with room turnover, getting equipment and positioning aids for the surgical team. Works as an integral member of the team to assist in transporting specimens, blood, and equipment.

What you will do

• Ensures proper supplies are stocked in all coves and operating rooms. Assists with room turnover, trash removal, patient transport, disposal of regulated waste, wiping all surfaces with appropriate cleaner, moping, dusting, replacing linen and moving unneeded equipment.
• Assists with obtaining supplies, specimens, and blood products requested and following appropriate procedure for transporting supplies.
• Demonstrates the ability to effectively collaborate and consult with charge nurse and other members of the surgical and operating room team members.
• Takes ownership in new employee/student/co-worker on-boarding to enhance retention and reduced turnover of staff as evidenced by vacancy rates.
• Maintains working knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals, to include patient identifiers and HIPPA.
• Safely transports patients using knowledge of Infection Control policies, proper body mechanics, and use of patient identifiers.
• Supports personal departmental productivity through volunteering for and recommending creative changes to include flexing and shift changes to meet the needs of the department.
