Riverside Health System in Newport News, Virginia is seeking a patient transporter to safely move patients, stock supplies, assist with room turnover, and support the surgical team.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience preferred.
• CPR/BLS Certification preferred.
• Weekend shifts required.

Responsabilidades

• Ensures proper supplies stocked in coves and operating rooms and assists with room turnover, waste disposal, cleaning, linen replacement, and equipment movement.
• Assists with obtaining supplies, specimens, and blood products and transports them per procedure.
• Collaborates with charge nurse and surgical/operating room team members.
• Takes ownership of onboarding new employees/students to reduce turnover.
• Maintains knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals, patient identifiers, and HIPAA.
• Safely transports patients following infection control policies and body mechanics.
• Support departmental productivity by participating in flexible shifts to meet needs.

Hiring Range

$15.00 - $19.50/HourlyActual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Overview

Safely and efficiently transports patients, stocks supplies, assists with room turnover, getting equipment and positioning aids for the surgical team. Works as an integral member of the team to assist in transporting specimens, blood, and equipment.

What you will do

• Ensures proper supplies are stocked in all coves and operating rooms. Assists with room turnover, trash removal, patient transport, disposal of regulated waste, wiping all surfaces with appropriate cleaner, moping, dusting, replacing linen and moving unneeded equipment.
• Assists with obtaining supplies, specimens, and blood products requested and following appropriate procedure for transporting supplies.
• Demonstrates the ability to effectively collaborate and consult with charge nurse and other members of the surgical and operating room team members.
• Takes ownership in new employee/student/co-worker on-boarding to enhance retention and reduced turnover of staff as evidenced by vacancy rates.
• Maintains working knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals, to include patient identifiers and HIPPA.
• Safely transports patients using knowledge of Infection Control policies, proper body mechanics, and use of patient identifiers.
• Supports personal departmental productivity through volunteering for and recommending creative changes to include flexing and shift changes to meet the needs of the department.

Experience

• 1 year (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Preferred)
