Job summary

University Health Truman Medical Center is seeking an Operating Room Associate to support the day-to-day operating room workflow. The role involves assisting nurses, technologists, and runners, helping with patient transfer and positioning, and handling supply logging for procedures.

The position is full-time with a 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM schedule in a high-paced OR environment. High school diploma or GED and BCLS certification are required, with prior OR exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in an operating room setting or related anesthesia tech/aid roles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced OR with strong teamwork and turnover.
• Good communication skills and familiarity with OR procedures.

Responsibilities

Job Description
A unlicensed assistive member of the operating room who assists the board runner, staff nurses, and surgical technologists in the day to day operations of the unit. Responsibilities vary, such as helping with transfer and positioning of the surgical patient, using the surgeon preference card to charge and credit supplies for a surgical procedure, and the performance of routine tasks not limited to only the licensed personnel.
Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Maintain BCLS certification for continued employment.
• 6 months experience working in an OR environment or education and/or equivalent experience as an anesthesia tech, nursing assistant or sterile processing technician where required knowledge has been acquired.
• Familiarity with the OR environment, fast pace and efficient turnover of the operating rooms. A strong team approach to keeping the cases moving throughout the day and communicating changes to the charge nurse.
• Ability to use the addressograph, charts, phones, patient call system, computer systems, fax machines, etc.
