OrthoNebraska is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to support nursing staff within Surgical Services. The ORA participates as a member of the multidisciplinary surgical team to assist with operating room set-up, intraoperative patient care including retractor holding, and room turnover to enable efficient use of operating room scheduling time in accordance with the Standards of Care at OrthoNebraska.

Hours/Schedule: Mon - Fri: 4 10-Hour Shifts, Variable shifts between 5a - 6p.

• Maintains adequate stock of supplies to support daily operations in the surgical suites.
• Maintains a functional, safe and clean environment in the operating room.

Position Summary

The Operating Room Assistant performs a variety of activities that provide support for the nursing staff within Surgical Services under the supervision of the Lead Nurse and professional nursing staff. The ORA participates as a member of the multidisciplinary surgical team to assist with operating room set-up, intraoperative patient care including retractor holding, and room turn-over to enable efficient use of operating room scheduling time in accordance with the Standards of Care at OrthoNebraska.

Hours/Schedule: Mon - Fri: 4 10-Hour Shifts, Variable shifts between 5a - 6p

Education: High School diploma or GED required.

License/Certification

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of employment.

Experience: 1+ year of clinical experience in accredited hospital with OR experience preferred.

• Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.

Physical requirements

This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiringthe exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater thannegligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those forLight Work.

Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
