Job summary

MUSC Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to provide direct patient care under licensed staff and support daily unit operations.

The role requires 1 year of healthcare patient care experience or related education, with BLS certification within two weeks of hire and ongoing. Shifts are 4/10s, 2pm–10pm, with possible weekends and call duties.

Qualifications

Under the direction and supervision of licensed personnel, the Operating Room Assistant assists in providing direct patient care and tasks required for daily unit functions.

Job Description Minimum Requirements

At least 1 year work experience in a .6fte Operating Room Assistant position at MUSC CHS or 1 year of patient care work experience in a healthcare facility; or a college degree, or active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution; or active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution; or a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant, or equivalent training.

Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

May require working irregular hours, rotating shifts and weekends. Monday - Friday 4 / 10 hour shifts, 2 pm - 10 pm Holiday Call and Disaster Teams Additional Job Description
