Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to support patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role emphasizes maintaining sterile technique and assisting with positioning, room turnover, and inventory management within the operating room.

Description

Position Purpose: In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Operating Room Assistant, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care tasks, in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.

• Assists with placing patient in the designated surgical position (e.g. supine, prone, lateral, lithotomy).
• Monitor positioning and traction devices as appropriate.
• Verifies integrity of sterile packaging and sterilization indicators.
• Open sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique.

• Adheres to aseptic technique principles.
• Maintains OR supply inventory and linen.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalency required.
• Experience: Previous healthcare experience preferred

• Demonstrates effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication. Math computation skills.
