Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking an Operating Room Assistant who will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide essential patient care in the OR setting. You will perform procedures to ensure patient safety, comfort, and efficient room turnover, while adhering to hospital policies and sterile technique.

Responsibilities include positioning patients, verifying sterile packaging, maintaining OR supplies, and collaborating with the surgical team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• BLS healthcare provider training required.

Position Purpose

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Operating Room Assistant, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care tasks, in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.

• Assists with placing patient in the designated surgical position ( e.g. supine, prone, lateral, lithotomy).
• Monitor positioning and traction devices as appropriate .

• Open sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique .

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalency required .
• Experience: Previous healthcare experience preferred
• Effective Communication Skills
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication. Math computation skills.
• BLS healthcare provider training required .
