Job summary

Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support the anesthesia team by preparing equipment and supplies, assisting with procedures, and maintaining readiness for a wide range of cases.

Under supervision of anesthesiologists and CRNAs, the technician ensures sterile environments, troubleshoots equipment, and helps deliver safe patient care across diverse populations.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Anesthesia Technician program preferred.
• 0-2 years experience as an Anesthesia Technician in hospital or surgical setting preferred.
• 1-2 years experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) preferred.
• BCLS certification required; Cer.A.TT preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare anesthetizing locations by setting up, calibrating and maintaining monitoring devices and anesthesia equipment.
• Assist anesthesia providers with aseptic or sterile techniques during procedures, including airway management and IV/arterial line placement.
• Monitor and report abnormal vital signs or appearance to anesthesia providers.
• Stock anesthesia supplies in ORs, L&D suites, and other procedural areas to ensure readiness.
• Assist with ABGs, ACTs, and other point-of-care tests.
• Prepare, obtain and deliver blood products and pharmaceuticals as requested by the anesthesia team.
• Provide technical guidance to other anesthesia technicians and team members as needed.
• Assist with patient transport, positioning, and monitor application under supervision.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
• Maintain readiness for routine and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with all policies and standards.
