Position: Operating Mechanic D

The Operating Mechanic will be responsible for general labor duties, including but not limited to equipment and work area clean-up, grounds maintenance, operating and maintaining conveyers, and loading trucks using front-end loaders and conveyer systems. The candidate must meet minimum performance criteria as set by management.

Responsibilities include:

1. Operating various hand power tools (impact wrenches, grinders, saws, drills, etc.).
2. De-energizing equipment following Mosaic’s Lockout/Tagout program.
3. Performing general clean-up and maintenance tasks.
4. Loading and unloading trucks and rail cars.
5. Maintaining safety and environmental protocols.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
• Proficient communication skills, including hand signals.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to communicate via two-way radio or cell phone at all times.
• Required safety gear: hard hat, safety glasses with side shields, steel-toe boots, long pants, life vests (on east side of levee), dust masks, fall protection equipment for elevated work.
• Training in various safety and operational procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, forklift operation, hot work, elevated work, hazard communication, CPR/First Aid, and ongoing computer training.

Physical and Other Requirements:

• Ability to lift 0-25 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to climb stairs and work at heights.
• Color and pattern recognition.
• Hearing and visual acuity (with or without correction).
• Fine motor skills and respirator use.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and 12-hour shifts.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
