Job description

Our client is a middle-market private equity firm investing in founder-owned and entrepreneur-led businesses across consumer, business services, tech-enabled services, and healthcare. The firm pairs capital with hands-on operational support to transform its companies and accelerate growth, and is building out a dedicated AI capability to drive value creation across the portfolio.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The AI Operating Executive drives AI adoption and workflow transformation across the firm's portfolio companies. This role is designed for a hands-on builder who can translate emerging AI capabilities into practical operating leverage - identifying high-impact opportunities, deploying targeted solutions, and embedding AI into day-to-day workflows to improve productivity, expand capacity, and create measurable value.

The role is embedded and execution-focused. Expect to dedicate roughly 9–12 months to a single business at a time, working alongside that company's management team and in partnership with the firm's Head of AI and operating team. Success requires developing a deep understanding of each company's operations, partnering with functional leaders to evaluate where AI can create meaningful value, and translating those opportunities into practical, workable solutions.

A core part of the mandate is demystifying AI for operators—building confidence in the technology and enabling leadership teams to execute a clear, actionable approach to adopting it within their workflows.

Given the firm's investment pace and hand‑on operating model, the role demands strong judgment, comfort in ambiguity, and the ability to move quickly from idea to implementation. Over time, this individual moves between businesses and helps establish a repeatable playbook for AI deployment across the portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
AI Opportunity Identification & Execution
  • Partner with executive teams and the deal team to identify high-impact opportunities to deploy AI across company workflows
  • Translate business needs into practical AI use cases with clear ROI
  • Rapidly prototype and deploy AI-enabled solutions (automations, copilots, internal tools)
  • Prioritize speed and practicality—solutions that can be implemented quickly and deliver immediate value
Workflow Transformation
  • Redesign internal workflows to incorporate AI and eliminate manual processes
  • Improve productivity, reduce cost, and increase output capacity within existing teams
  • Target high-frequency, repeatable tasks where AI can drive measurable efficiency gains
  • Challenge legacy ways of working and identify opportunities to safely improve processes using AI
Deployment, Training & Adoption
  • Embed AI tools directly into day-to-day operations at portfolio companies
  • Train employees and leadership teams on practical AI usage
  • Drive sustained adoption by working closely with users and iterating based on feedback
  • Build trust and buy‑in from business leaders to ensure long‑term adoption
  • Develop repeatable frameworks and playbooks for AI deployment across companies
  • Identify opportunities to scale solutions across multiple portfolio companies
  • Contribute to a centralized library of tools, workflows, and best practices
Collaboration with the Firm
  • Partner with deal and operating teams on diligence and post-close value creation initiatives
  • Help prioritize AI opportunities based on impact and feasibilityTrack, measure, and communicate outcomes across initiatives
DESIRED OUTCOMES
  • Measurable efficiency gains across portfolio companies (time savings, cost reduction, increased output)
  • Increased AI adoption and fluency within portfolio company teams
  • A repeatable, scalable AI deployment playbook across the portfolio
  • Tangible tools and systems embedded in core business workflows
  • Expanded capacity of lean teams without incremental headcount
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
Technical & Builder Capability
  • 2–5 years in technical or technical-adjacent roles (technology, startups, or consulting)
  • Exposure to private equity, venture capital, or another investing environment is a plus, not a requirement
  • Hands‑on experience with modern AI tools (LLMs, APIs, automation platforms)
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build and deploy functional tools or prototypes
Operating Mindset
  • Strong bias toward action and execution in fast-paced environments
  • Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders to solve practical problems
  • Able to operate effectively in ambiguity and prioritize high-impact opportunities
Systems Orientation
  • Ability to identify patterns across workflows and design scalable, repeatable solutions
  • Interest in process optimization and operational efficiency
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
  • High EQ and the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
  • Ability to influence and drive alignment across stakeholders, with a focus on securing business buy‑in
  • Collaborative, low ego, and team-oriented
