As an Operating Engineer Master or Foreman, you’ll help keep DOTD facilities safe, comfortable, and running efficiently. You’ll operate and maintain critical heating, cooling, ventilation, and power‑generation equipment while responding to repairs and unexpected issues. This position combines hands‑on mechanical work with leadership, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and coordination with contractors and other employees. You’ll work independently and as part of a team to make sure essential building systems remain reliable and operational.
While in an official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Services laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Four years of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.
For those positions in which incumbents will be working with and handling refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians will be required (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).

Compensation: This position is a WS-215 which ranges from $24.10 up to $43.37 per hour and also eligible for premium pay of $2.00 extra per hour.
